Book Blogger Hop- 7/9

Every week Crazy for Books hosts the Book Blogger Hop.  This is a good way to get to know your fellow book bloggers and find new blogs.

This week's question:  Tell us about some of your favorite authors and why they are your favorites!

It is hard for me to pick a favorite author, because I am really indecisive.   If I had to choose, I would say Margaret Atwood and Michelle Moran.  Margaret Atwood just has a way with words.  Her books are all so different and interesting.  She usually puts some sort of mystery in her books that keep the reader interested.  Michelle Moran I really like because she is a historical fiction author.  She has three books out, all of which take place in Ancient Egypt, a place I have always been fascinated with.  She makes her characters so real and easy to relate to.  Also, she is very friendly and is a big supporter of book blogs.

  16. I have The Blind Assassin here waiting to be read. A lot of my friends on GoodReads loved that one. The only other thing I've read by Atwood is bunch of poetry for a paper I remember writing in high school.

I'm now following! Have a fantastic weekend!

  19. Stopped on the hop. I like Margaret Atwood too. I think that Handmaid's Tales may be one of the scariest things I have ever read - not in a Friday 13th way but in a this is what could happen in our future.

I adore both of those authors you've posted. I've been a long-time fan of Atwood and I read The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran a few weeks ago and loved it! Great authors.

  26. Thanks for hopping my way...I absolutely love Margaret Atwood's work...I think The Robber Bride was my all-time favorite.

BTW, I've been experimenting with the new template designer over at Blogger and I love this "bookish" design you've got going. It didn't look too great on the blogs where I tried it, but probably because I was using "picture window" template. I'll have to play around with it some more.

  27. You're the second blogger I found through the hop (following you now vis RSS) who mentioned Atwood as her favorite author. I hope to read her Blind Assassin soon.

  29. Hi. I'm stopping by from the hop. Both Atwood's and Moran's books have caught my attention; but I've never read either of them. Historical fiction and mystery are two of my favorite genres. I'll give them both a chance. Have a great weekend. Meet me at A Novel Review.

  38. Thanks for stopping by this weekend - I'm just finding a few minutes to catch up quick before heading out for the day.

Can I admit this? I tried Atwood earlier this year and bailed. I don't appreciate dystopian worlds so these aren't the books for me - this makes me a sad since everyone is raving about her work. Someone just listed Hunger Games on a dystopian list - I had an ah-ha moment... I couldn't figure out why but this book doesn't sound interesting to me, at all.

I know I'm in the minority here.

Love historical fiction though so I will check our Michelle Moran.

    Have a great weekend!
